Miles

I don’t know what the hell that was about. Did she not come after me? Did she not send all the signals that said, “I’m not here for work, I’m here for play.”? And I’m all about playing.

Then again, she’s right. She was there last night. She saw what happened. And I am pissed as hell that Devon had the balls to come back to our suite and fuck Kennedy. This is what? The hundredth time they’ve made up? What’s the point of sticking by a person who clearly doesn’t give a shit about you? But Kennedy doesn’t care. She sees that pretty boy with all his daddy’s money and thinks the promise of fame is more important than love. And here I am, cleaning up more of her mess.

I leave the hotel and spot the orange Lamborghini ahead of me. It’s no easy feat reaching it though. The paps swarm the valet loop, trying to get as close as possible to the Lambo. Then they spot me, and I’m screwed.

“Miles Riot!”

“Tell us what’s going on with Tempest Ultra!”

“Who’s the mystery woman touring with you?”

“Is she your girlfriend?”

I push my way through without speaking a word. Fuck these sorry excuses for reporters. They’re nuisances. I reach the Lambo and pull open the passenger side door, getting in without an invitation. Shutting the door behind me mutes the noise outside, but the camera flashes are an annoying as hell distraction.

“Kaidan Stone,” I say to the guy in the driver’s seat. “I thought they had you locked up in that law office of yours.”

“This is my office today,” he says. Another pretty boy with all his daddy’s money… He shifts the car into gear, and hits the gas, sending the paparazzi scattering.

I look over at Devon’s twin brother. I’m not interested in games right now. “Can you tell me why you drove all the way out here? I’m pretty sure a phone call would’ve done just fine.”

“Any excuse to hit Vegas, right?”

I don’t buy that for one second, and Kaidan knows it.

He glances over at me as he shifts gears and weaves around traffic. “We want Tempest to sign to Stone.”

I already knew that. “I still don’t think it’s a good idea.” Not with the massive conflict of interest happening between Devon and Kennedy. One of their break ups could ruin all of our careers.

“I know you don’t, but we’re ready to prove it to you.”

“You’ve already bribed us with the fancy bus and Vegas suite.” And it’s not enough to sway me. The Stones are the ones who have money to gamble. Tempest doesn’t. “We don’t need your gifts. We’ll sign with the label who offers us a long-term career, and to be honest, signing with Stone isn’t much of a guarantee. I’m pretty sure you know what I’m talking about.” Devon and Kennedy’s personal life hits the tabloids on a regular basis. Their unstable, dysfunctional fling is no secret.

“According to the tabloids, I’m pretty sure you’re the one who went after my brother last night, not the other way around.
